Choose a Membership Management Script
Running your own membership site is still a very popular way to make money online and in order to be successful you need to use software to manager everything for you. This software is called a membership management script.
There are a number of them out there on the market, all with their strengths and weaknesses and with a large difference in price range.
Below I have mentioned a few of the membership scripts that I have personally used (I only recommend what I use or have been told is excellent by someone I trust as an authority) that you can use to run your own membership site.
This post is long because I wanted to provide you with as much information as I could so get yourself a cup of something hot and a biscuit and take your time! It will be worth it. I originally wrote it just for people I had been mentoring but thought I would share it on my blog. It’s available as a downloadable podcast too so download the audio and listen to it at your own convenience.
Your choice should depend on your ultimate goal. If you are a business professional looking to leverage your business expertise and create a community online I recommend you focus on the high end membership management scripts.
If you are just starting out and/or you are thinking about creating loads of different membership sites in different niches then you might find the low-end scripts more suitable.
Whatever you decide before putting up your membership site it is important you spend time doing your research. You know how it goes… find a hungry market and give them what they want!
One of the reasons I love membership site scripts so much is because they save you having to go the traditional route of putting up a sales page, adding a payment button, adding a thank you page, including a one time offer page, and then having the product available on a download page. With membership site scripts all of that is managed for you plus you have the added benefit of being able to build your list and have that list in one central place.
I have listed below a few of the membership site scripts that I have used in the last 3 years of me being online in order of using them….!
My very first membership site doesn’t exist anymore. I created a life coaching site using the inspirational guidance domain but soon decided that I perfer building my passive income without having to provide as much one to one support as I was giving at the time. It also provides space for you to add affiliate tools like banners, signature links, email promotions etc so you can provide resources for your affiliates. This is an extremely important element of any membership management script.

What’s a podcast? Its audio on steriods!
A podcast is a downloadable audio or video. Rather than an audio that people have to go to your website to listen to and sit at their computer to gain access, providing a podcast means you have made your audio and video downloadable.
What’s great about that?
Well now it means they can listen to your voice, your business name and your expertise while they drive their car, sit on the train and walk the dog…. once the audio is downloaded people can listen to it on their ipod, pda, mobile phone and other portable devices at their convenience. They are no longer tied to having to sit at their computer to listen to you.
Imagine the potential! Someone in Australia listening to your book excerpt, or a potential customer in America downloading your audio motivational talk. What will that do for your business if you could develop a following of loyal “fans” from around the world?
Then imagine what it will do for your business profits when you start charging for them!
The trouble that you might have is getting started. Well you are not alone. Loads of people have read blogs and listened to downloadable audio. Maybe you have too. But the problem is knowing how to put everything together so you can start promoting yourself online today.

Forget about brochures and leaflets and marketing…. you have the power of learn how to run a blog that DOESN’T need any technical knowledge, that you can update every day with YOUR content and that the search engines love because of the activity that takes place on it as people visit to download, read and listen.
This stuff is so easy a trained chimp could do it! And the only people who will talk to you about how difficult it is are the people looking to get you to send a few thousand with them.

“Create an eBook business that brings you in over 100k a year”
That was the headline that got my attention at the end of 2007 and I decided 2008 would be spent putting my efforts into building my own eBook empire!
It’s so easy to set up and once you have written one - or used private label rights to create one - it doesn’t take long before the money starts coming in. slowly at first, one or two a week and then it began to grow. 15 or 20 in a month….
Of course it all depends on the topic you are selling and how you sell it!
I’m a little too lazy to have to put up a sales page, and a download page, and a one time offer page and have to add payment buttons to them all so I use membership sites. Just upload everything, add in an amount and everything is done for me!
When I only have a special report to sell like Ewen Chia’s Ebook Money Machine I have another secret weapon I use that saves me having to do anything but upload the product. Everything is delivered automatically and I love it.

Difference Between Mentoring and Coaching
Investing in a mentor is a huge decision and not one that should be taken lightly.
A bad mentor can be a costly mistake that leaves you even more frustrated than when you started.
Plus too many internet marketers are calling themselves “coaches” and “mentors” without a qualification in teaching, training, mentoring or coaching.
I do not want to imply that qualifications are everything because of course experience definitely counts.
However being successful does not automatically mean you can teach others how you did it. People are very different and trained mentors (and coaches) will be able to fit into what each individual needs, rather than provide a “one size fits all program”
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MENTORING AND COACHING HANDBOOK
I have had the pleasure of meeting some fantastic mentors in my two years online and make it my business to ensure I am always being either coached or mentored at different points during the year.
I have taken on a mentor for four weeks to learn a particular skill (e.g. Adwords training at a cost of $1,600) and have also invested in longer term mentoring.
Plus I am a trained professional Personal Growth Coach and a Master Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) a skill that helps people model success.
So I am sharing this not only from a position of trained professional (I started as a teacher in adult education, moved into training before training as a life coach) but also from a place of having experienced good and bad mentoring.
My aim is to help entrepreneurs new to internet marketing start and generate profit quickly and the best way to do that is to take on your own mentor. Not having a mentor is a very expensive mistake in terms of time and money!
One of the biggest reasons people don’t take on a mentor to help them is because of the expense that investing in a mentor entails.
This however is an illusion because the real expense comes from going it alone for a few years, spending money on product after product, not knowing where you are going, feeling overwhelmed and frustrated, investing hours and still never making more than a few hundred a month (if you manage that).
So I promote and encourage mentoring, coaching and self directed learning (learning that you do at your own pace) because I believe without it I wouldn’t be in the position I am only two years after starting online.
I am still a relative “baby” to the internet marketing industry but my knowledge and ability to make money has meant I have attained my Masters degree while still in kindergarten!
I made the decision to promote mentoring and learning online by starting the Internet Marketing Mentor membership site.
