18 Content Creation Ideas For Therapists

content creation therapy marketingMany therapists who want to use the internet to bring in business worry about what they will write about. In fact many of them struggle with knowing how to write content for their business blog. Well content creation really doesn't have to be difficult because you are the expert in your field and you have the knowledge in your head or already written down.

When you first start online I recommend you write daily (5 days a week minimum - 7 days is better) for the first 3-6 months. Three months MINIMUM. If you want to start producing visitors and leads quickly.

This is when your business blog comes in handy and is the way I recommend you distribute this content. A blog post can be as short as two paragraphs and even just a photo will do. That needs to be mixed in with longer content too but it doesn't always have to be long.

Below is a list of ideas for therapists wondering whether they could possibly create enough content to write on a daily basis.  Remember - you are an expert in your field so writing about how you help is an EASY task.

Write content that answers a question your reader has - it is one of the easiest ways to keep coming up with content. Simply think about what people struggle with and create content based on that.

Find a big news item and relate it to  what you do. Use news sites and keep an eye on what's being talked about. Health and wellness is always full of news. If you are a occupational therapist and you find out from an online news article on the BBC that people who sit at their desk too long can end up having weeks off work because of bad posture then write about that. Link it to HOW you help. News is a great way to write content.

Use what happens in your business/life (if appropriate). Did something funny happen today? Did something your 6 year old say give you a profound moment of clarity relating to your niche? Use the things that happen in life to write content.

Use local events. If there are local events taking part that people will be searching for use them, for example a personal trainer might write about a local wedding fair and getting fit for their big day.

Create video content that helps. Whether that content features you as the star, or uses images/music or even uses the internet/your desktop to teach something. Create different types of videos to help build your online presence. Visit our local search marketing videos for examples.

Interview an expert from your niche.  Most people will welcome an opportunity to talk about what they know. Don't be afraid to ask because you will be surprised at how many will say yes.

Once you have been adding content to your business blog for a while take your best 21 (or less or more!) blog posts link to them all from a page on your blog. This helps with internal linking and making it easier for people to find related content.

Examples :

Here's an example focusing on how to make money with a blog

You will notice that I created one page and I linked to all the blog posts from that page.

I also did it here - my confidence building handbook

I created all the articles that go on this website and I link to them all from the one page

If you do have a business blog use an insightful question or comment from one of your readers. Encourage them to send in questions for you to answer and if someone does leave a great comment write a blog post about it. Either to answer the comment or just to say why it was such a great thing to say.

Use an image that you love relating to your niche that says what you wanted to say - give it a great title and nothing else. This works really well with animal, plant and nature niches.

Write a quote of the week. Take your favorite quote and create content using it

Create a flow chart that takes them through a process you use. Does your niche have a process that goes from A to Z? Take your readers through your process quickly using a chart. I am too much of a detailed person to be great at this but I have read some wonderful charts from marketers I am subscribed to so I didn't want to miss this one off.Write an eguide or report. This one is one of the easiest ways to create content for your blog. Write something and give it away.

Write something using other people's articles. You will need to get in touch with the author but if you don't believe you are an expert in your niche find 10 or 20 people who are in article directories, put those together in an ebook. Add an introduction about why you choose them and a summary at the end then add it to your blog.

Make a list. It is a little cliche for more established bloggers but it still works well and if you are a new blogger I didn't want to miss this out. Make a list of something - 10 tips about... 7 ways to... and use that as blog content.

Use a free desktop capture tool like TechSmith's Jing and turn it into video content

Use free software like audacity and make audio content to add to your blog

Develop a series of articles. Create content on a weekly basis that is part of a series and make sure you link to them all from a page on your blog. For example "21 ways to overcome stress" then each week or every day write a new entry. You can also make this in video format too and eventually use it as a free ecourse to get people to sign up for your newsletter.

Create a 'Facts' page. Write out facts about your niche and/or topic that people need to know - make sure it can fit on one A4 page and save it in PDF format. I say too much to fit everything on to one page :) but I do provide free best practice eguides.

Write something that will cause a discussion and/or debate. Find a topic that you know people in your niche will have an opinion on and write about it on your blog. For example in the dating niche you could ask the question - "who should pay on the first date - him or her?"
